We have a mission. Our mission is clear. We are inspired to make the tragic death of Reign MEAN SOMETHING. Mean what?
What we intend to do is educate to prevent the unimaginable and preventable tragic deaths of dogs. We intend to raise awareness to avoid preventable and tragic deaths in the future. We will work to bring change to the AKC and dog breed clubs to ensure the most heightened standards of care and safety. We will work legislatively, if necessary, to bring about adequate protections, care and safety standards, and increased penalties to deter abuse and cruelty for ALL DOGS. We will work tirelessly to elevate the concerns and interest of dog OWNERS within the AKC competitive activities. We will work to ensure dog owners have say and are heard.
To that end, here are our guiding principles.
Dogs Always First
Every decision must center on the safety, health, care, and well-being of every single dog – whether it be family members, working dogs, or shows dogs. Dogs first — All the time.
Welfare Over Ribbons
The health, safety, and care for all dogs must always come before competition, prestige, ribbons, and wins.
Safety In Handling & Training
Promoting that handlers, trainers, and owners use humane and positive approaches that protect the physical, emotional, and comfort for all dogs. All dogs deserve safe, positive, and respectful care and handling at all times.
Travel & Environment Safety
Advocate for safe transport, proper care, rest, hydration, and comfort for all dogs at shows and during travel, helping to eliminate avoidable and senseless harm or death of any dog.
Education & Prevention
We believe safety starts with knowledge. By educating owners, communities, and professionals, we reduce the risks and help prevent avoidable harm and devastating consequences.
Promotion of Safety
We promote policies, guidelines, and practices that elevate safety and care standards. Likewise we should always promote and strive for safe home and venues, including dog competitive venues, with proper safety protocols, flooring, climate control, and emergency preparedness.
Collaboration
Dog safety and care is a shared responsibility among owners, handlers, trainers, breeders, and event organizers.
